LOCATION:Mesa de las Viejas is located in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, north of Abiquiu Lake, eight miles off of Highway 84, through Forest Service Roads, and Forest Service Road 131C2 is on the property. SIZE: This hunting ranch is 640 acres of the southern half of two sections. It is bordered on the southern end of both sections by Forest Service land, and on the eastern border by BLM land. Call listing agent for legal description. ACCESS: From Highway 84, take Forest Service Road 145 west past Berryman Ranch. FSR 145 turns south, west, and south again to FSR 131. East on FS Road 131, which then connects into FSR 131C2 that runs onto the property. See Topo map. IMPROVEMENTS: There are no improvements other than some perimeter fencing. UTILITIES: Power lines exist on the eastern side of Highway 84. The southeastern corner of the property is about 300 yards west of the highway, up a slope that at some points are easy grades and steep at others. GEOLOGY: The property is on a large mesa just north of the Echo Amphitheater and other large pink, white and red sandstone formations that can be seen from Highway 84. A V shaped canyon runs through the acreage providing excellent terrain for wildlife. Buildable sites exist on the north and south sides of the canyon. Cliffs are up 400 to 500 yards from the Highway. Access to the south side is very limited. Access to the northern side is by Forest Service Roads. There are many large pine trees, and pinion and juniper trees, and sage brush in the area. WILDLIFE: The property has abundant wildlife. Elk Tags for 2007, 2 mature bull; 2 either sex archery; 2 cow. Lion sign has been seen on the south eastern side. PRICE: $640,000 TERMS: Cash only.
