LOCATION:
The Sam Lewis Ranch is located in Otero County, New Mexico, only 55 miles west of Artesia and 5.7 miles south of the town of Pinon, on county road E021 which continues on past the ranch thru the neighboring ranches and on to Timberon.

ACCESS:
(From Cloudcroft, N.M.) Go southwest on NM82 towards Artesia, turn south on state road 24, go thru Dunkin, NM to Pinon. State Road no. 82 a paved road provides easy access to the town of Pinon from Artesia, (turn south off of 82 on no. 24, thru Dunkin, N.M. and onward to Pinon)

WATER, GRASS, PASTURES:
The ranch is cut into two pastures and a trap. The grass is strong consisting of a mixture of native grasses, good browse, and wild flowers. ELEVATION, TOPGRAPHY, VEGETATION:
The ranch headquarters is located at 6200 ft. in elevation. The Terrain includes hills, grassy slopes, grassy open canyons, tree lined ridges, wooded slopes, and some yucca / cactus areas.

SOIL TYPE, WEATHER:
There is a substantial amount of rocky terrain and rocky scattering on topsoil, a good strong topsoil and substrate provides good nutrient and growing base for healthy trees, forageable shrubs and strong grasses. The wide open cayons have a deep rich topsoil with an abundance of organic matter offering good nutrient and soil conditioning.

RAINFALL:
Pinon, New Mexico, annual rainfall 10-14 inches. Each year some light snowstorms recording 1.5 to 3.75 inches.

CARRYING CAPACITY:
Year-round carrying capacity recommended by the seller is 30 to 40 head depending on the moisture and grass.
